Movements of Matter and Thought-Forms

In my works, color shifts from one pictorial surface to another. Sometimes, the movement pauses at the boundary between surfaces. Lines—or rather, stripes—emerge; a pattern that connects the forms while also marking their separateness. At times, the patterns mirror one another. My works consist of two or more paintings arranged in the space, either side-by-side or at some distance from each other.

I paint primarily with tempera. In recent years, I’ve made extensive use of earth pigments—both store-bought varieties and those I have gathered myself from various landscapes. I appreciate their warm, muted color palette, and I enjoy the idea that I’m painting with sand. This year, however, a completely different color appeared—one that insisted on being included, perhaps to create contrast or simply to shake things up. In some of my latest works, a hint of neon pink shines through beneath the layers of sand, like a memory of something that happened long ago.
