EXHIBITION SPACE

The exhibition space of tm•gallery is 91 m2, with a ceiling height of 4 m. See: painters.fi/tmgalleria-esittely/
In addition, there are two small hanging walls in the lobby/office space.

EXHIBITION PERIODS

The exhibition period is four weeks including installation, the opening day and de-installation. Applicants may express their preference for the exhibition dates. Likewise, if certain dates are not suitable (due to travel etc.), this should be mentioned in the application. In your application, state whether you would be willing to participate in a group exhibition with 2–3 artists if you are not granted a solo exhibition slot. The exhibition committee selects the groups (artist groups may also apply together). Group exhibitions are arranged mainly in July and possibly at other times as well.

APPLICATION AND REQUIRED ATTACHMENTS

The form should be attached with a detailed exhibition proposal, including 5 sample images and a CV.
Please note: before uploading, name the files as follows: “lastname_firstname_filename”.
All uploaded files must be in PDF format. Make sure the file sizes do not exceed the given limits.

Two separate attachments must be added to the form:

1) EXHIBITION PROPOSAL AND A CURRICULUM VITAE
The CV’s maximum length is two A4 pages. Summarize if needed. Upload as a PDF file. Maximum file size 1MB.

2) FIVE ARTWORK IMAGES WITH A LIST OF WORKS
The images should form a coherent whole and must be of works completed within the last three years. Write your name and artwork details (title, year, technique, size) below each image. Prepare the application in portrait format and upload it as a PDF file. Maximum file size: 5 MB.

PROCESSING OF APPLICATIONS

Applications are reviewed by the Finnish Painters’ Union’s exhibition committee, which consists of five artists elected from the membership, and the exhibition coordinator as presenter. In processing applications, the disqualification rules of the Administrative Act are applied as appropriate. All applicants will be informed personally by email of the committee’s decision. Decisions made on artistic merit cannot be appealed.
(Members of the Painters’ Union’s board or exhibition committee are not eligible to apply for exhibition slots.)

Notice! Artists who receive an exhibition slot commit to not holding a solo exhibition or equivalent in another gallery or similar venue in the Helsinki metropolitan area within one year prior to their tm•gallery exhibition.

Due to the large number of applications, an artist may only apply for a tm•gallery exhibition slot if at least four years have passed since their previous solo exhibition at tm•gallery.
