Conquer your gallery allergy at Gallery Week Finland – free exhibitions and events across the country in August
Spread across the country, the first edition of Gallery Week Finland (Galleriaviikko), will take place from 26 to 31 August 2025 and then annually. The Gallery Week programme will be published at the start of August.
The first edition of Gallery Week Finland (Galleriaviikko), will take place from 26 to 31 August 2025 and then annually. The programme consists of exhibitions and other events free to the public in galleries across Finland.
Gallery weeks and weekends have become well-established and popular events across Europe, including in cities such as Berlin, London and Stockholm. It is less common for the event to be held nationwide.
“Gallery Week Finland aims to attract new local and international audiences to galleries across the country. Galleries constantly display diverse, high-quality art and are almost always free to visit. Hopefully, many people will cross the gallery threshold for the first time in August and conquer their gallery allergy once and for all,’ says Elisa Lientola, Executive Director of the Finnish Painters’ Union.
Collaboration creates more impact for galleries in Finland
Gallery Week Finland is open to all art galleries and similar exhibition spaces in Finland with regularly changing exhibitions and regular opening hours.
“Gallery Week Finland aims to strengthen cooperation between art galleries. The idea is to bring these organisations together each year, also after the event, for tailor-made training sessions and workshops. Organisations in this field are small, so teamwork is essential for both learning and visibility,” says Henna Harri, Executive Director of the Association of Photographic Artists.
The project is organised by the Artists’ Association MUU, the Association of Finnish Sculptors, the Association of Finnish Printmakers, the Finnish Painters’ Union and the Association of Photographic Artists. They share the goal of strengthening the status and impact of visual artists working in Finland, as well as supporting the visual arts scene as a whole.
Gallery Week Finland is launched with support from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
