Diplomityössäni tutkin kaksiulotteista kuvataidetta osana yhtenäistä rakennustaideteosta kahdeksassa suomalaisessa 1980- ja 1990-luvun kirkkosalissa.

Työni kuvaavat yksilön kokemusta kaoottisena näyttäytyvästä maailmastamme.

Piittaamattomuus toisen ihmisen ihmisyydestä ja yhteyden puute ovat pahuudeksi kokemiemme asioiden ytimessä, niiden syy ja seuraus. Suurimmankin yhteiskunnallisen epäoikeudenmukaisuuden mittapuuna on lopulta yksilön kokemus, kukin ihminen itse tekoineen suhteessa toisiin ihmisiin.

Kyseessä oleva aihepiiri on mielestäni tärkeä ja ajankohtainen niin yksilön kuin yhteiskunnankin kannalta. Uskon, että taide voi tehdä näkyväksi ja eritellä ihmisyyden ongelmia ja mikä tärkeintä, parantaa haavojamme.

The purpose of my work is to depict the experience of the individual person in the chaotic world bordering on insanity. It is an attempt to speak for those who have no voice.

My aim is to portray the desperation of the human soul - our horror of facing the unknown, our struggle to overcome fear of ridicule and rejection and to change the depreciating tone of our inner dialogue.

On the other hand, I aim to depict what is at the root of evil and the consequences of choosing to ignore the humanity of others. At the root of even the deepest injustice on a massive scale lie the individual choices, our choices.

I consider these themes to be very important for both the individual person and the entire society. I do believe that art can manifest the human condition and show a way forward, to help heal our wounds.
